Monday, May 30

Mt. Pulaski area veterans’ groups and civic organizations will hold joint Memorial Day Observance ceremonies at the
 Veterans’ Memorial in Mt. Pulaski Cemetery and at the chapel in the Steenbergen Cemetery.


Mt. Pulaski Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremonies:

Time:

 10 am on Monday, 30 May

Place:

 Veterans’ Memorial in the Mt. Pulaski Cemetery

Welcome:

 American Legion Commander Post 447 - Chuck McCue - Master of Ceremonies

Invocation:

 Rev. Father Thomas Shaw, Pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas & St. Patrick's Parishes, and  
 Chaplain of the Men's & Women's Correctional Facilities in Lincoln, IL.

Music:

 Director Jamie Ernst and the Mt. Pulaski High School Band

Presentations:

 Civic organizations will lay wreathes at the memorial, followed by
 the traditional presentation of flowers by local children

Readings:

 Winners of the Sons of the American Legion Junior High and 
 High School Patriotic Essay Contests

Reading:

 Miss Erin Caley, Winner of the 2005 Local & District Competitions in the Annual  
 VFW-sponsored "Voice of Democracy" Contest

Benediction: 

 Rev. Father Thomas Shaw

Salute to Fallen Comrades:

 American Legion Post 447 and V.F.W. Post 777

Honor Guard:

 American Legion Ryman-Fuiten Post 447, Veterans of Foreign Wars Scroggin-Gee Post
